Sharkey and Davis Dominate In Kasson Victories

Prepared By Chris Stepan ~ FYE Motorsports Promotions

(June 1st 2008 – Kasson, MN) The first day of June was welcomed at the Kasson Speedway in Kasson, MN with bright sunny skies and 73 race cars filling the pit area on KOWZ 100.9 FM night.

The Hornet feature event was the first a-main of the night and Gary Stahl took command on the backstretch from Ryan Henderson on the opening lap and never looked back, while 9th starting Mark Houston quickly made his way through the field into second early on. After an early race caution, Stahl took back off into the lead with Houston trailing, but Houston was not able to cut into the advantage Stahl had built up as Stahl raced to his third win in a row in Kasson. Houston and Keith Swanson followed Stahl across the line.

Billy Steinberg took command at the start of the Pure Stock feature and lead the opening two circuits until Ross Spitzer stormed to the inside and took the lead on lap 2. Once out front, Spitzer dominated the event and raced to his second feature win of the season here in Kasson. Tyler Peterson began to put pressure on Steinberg for second as the lap wound down, but Steinberg was able to hold on to second at the line.

At the start of the Noble RV Street Stock feature, Dan Bork took off from the outside of the front row and ran out to a sizeable lead over a great early battle for second between Allen Gessel Jr, Scott Paulson and Quinn Arnoldy. Gesserl began to cut into the advanrage that Bork had built up and on lap 5, Gessel put his 32x into the lead and never looked back en route to his 11th feature win of the season over Bork, Paulson, Dan Holland and Arnoldy.

Bobby Saterdalen took the lead at the drop of the green in the Dodge County Corn and Soybean Growers Super Stock feature event with Jeff Brauer in tow. Dustin Nelson quickly moved to the inside of Brauer to challenge him for second as Saterdalen moved out to a three car length lead early on. Brauer came right back after Saterdalen and began to pressure him for the lead with Nelson moving to the cushion and pulling along side Brauer for second on lap three. The lead trio pulled out to a sizeable lead over the rest of the field as Saterdalen continued to pace the field with heavy pressure from Nelson, who stole second from Brauer on a mid-race restart. Nelson moved to the inside of Saterdalen and stole the lead on lap ten and ran away with his first Kasson win of 2008. Saterdalen held on to second with Josh Bartel, Brauer and Travis Winter rounding out the top five.

Brandon Davis got the jump from the outside of the front row in the Kasson State Bank Midwest Modified feature and never looked back, but the battle for second was incredible throughout the entire main event between Pete Bushman, Albert Wytaske, Jason VandeKamp and Bobby Swanson. Davis cruised to a dominating feature win, with both Wytaske brothers, VandeKamp and Swanson racing hard for second and rounding out the top five.

Jacob Dahle took off from the inside of the front row in the A & A Electric USRA Modified feature into the lead, with a thrilling battle for second between Tom Paulson, Todd Sharkey and Tony Vaith early on. Dahle continued to lead on the outside of the track, while Sharkey came flying around the track on the bottom and stole the lead on lap 4. Once out front, Sharkey dominated the reminder of the event, while Josh Angst moved in on Dahle for second. 9th starting Mick Glenn became a factor at the mid-point of the event as he moved in on Angst for second, while LeRoy Sharkey chased Glenn on the bottom for third. Angst began to run the extreme topside of the speedway and began to cut into Sharkey’s advantage, but ran out of laps as Todd claimed his first win of the season. Angst ran an impressive second over Glenn, LeRoy Sharkey and Tom Brink in the top five.

Racing resumes at the Kasson Speedway on Sunday, June 15th with a full program of USRA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, WISSOTA Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Hornets. Racing will begin at 6:00pm. Check out www.kassonspeedway.com for more information.
